Drive America’s Highways for 4 miles west along Interstate 70 from Lambert International to Interstate 270 in St. Louis, Missouri.
We start the video merging onto Interstate 70 from the STL interchange (exit 236). Driving to the south of Lambert International Airport, we soon reach the interchange with US-67 (Lindbergh Blvd – Exit 235) before reaching the end of the video at the interchange with Interstate 270 (exit 232A)
1:07 — You can see at that point the leftmost lane changes from asphalt to concrete. That's the point where, when 70 was first built, it transitioned from six urban-suburban lanes to four rural lanes. Because, at the time, that was just after the end of St. Louis's suburban development.
MODOT seems to like leaving unmatched pavement when they widen highways. a few in SWMO are like that too….I dread to see what the new I-57 extension will look like 🙂
