🚙 Drive America’s Highways for 59 miles east along U.S. Highway 278 from Oxford to Tupelo, Mississippi. 🛣️
The segment of US-278 from Oxford to Tupelo begins west of Oxford at the intersection with an unsigned MS-315. Travelling generally east as a 4-lane divided highway, highway 278 makes its way into Oxford where it bypasses the city to the south. During this segment, the highway intersects several local roads at full interchanges, as well as a large interchange with MS-7. Leaving Oxford, the route bends southeast to pass to the south of Thaxton. On the southeast side of Thaxton, the highway crosses the intersection with MS-336 before entering the Pontotoc area.
At Pontotoc, US-278 makes its way around the north side of town, crossing MS-15 and MS-9 at full interchanges before turning further southeast to leave town. Passing southwest of Trace State Park, the route enters the Tupelo area and turns more easterly as it approaches the south side of Tupelo. At the interchange with the Natchez Trace Parkway, we end the video and thus the segment of U.S. Route 278 from Oxford to Tupelo ends as well.
