Birmingham 2024

In June, 2024, we took a weekend trip down to Birmingham, Alabama to visit the Barber Motorsports Museum.  Being as we were on motorcycles, we opted to take primarily non-interstate routes whenever possible, thus the majority of the videos in this collection are of rural highways.

Beginning in Brinkley, Arkansas, our journey takes us south via U.S. Route 49 down to Helena/West-Helena where we cross into Mississippi.  In Rich, US-49 turns south, we continue east on MS-315 towards Sardis.  At Sardis, we continue east to Sardis Lake where we stop for lunch and some scenery before continuing on towards Oxford.

Just west of Oxford, we turn east once again onto US-278 where we continue to Tupelo.  At Tupelo, we hop on the Natchez Trace Parkway to bypass town to the west.  Reaching I-22, we revisit the stretch east of Tupelo before turning south onto I-65 to enter Birmingham.

In the Birmingham area, we stayed in the small town of Riverside, where we took video of the ride to Pell City, then US-231 down to Vincent, where we took Scenic AL-25 to Leeds, continuing along US-78 to the Barber Motorsports Museum.  Leaving the museum, we take US-78 back to Chula Vista, hopping back on I-20 briefly, before finishing up the day on US-78 east through Leeds.

The way back to Arkansas has us taking the exact same route in reverse.  Starting with I-20 in Riverside, we turn north on I-65 in Birmingham before turning west on I-22 towards Tupelo.  At Tupelo, we head briefly south on the Trace before turning west to Oxford on US-278.  West of Oxford, we turn north once again on MS-315, passing Sardis Lake and the I-55 junction in Sardis along the way.  At Rich, MS-315 ends and we continue west onto US-49 to Helena/West-Helena, where our Birmingham 2024 trip ends.
