The majority of the route is a two-lane highway, passing through small towns like Wright, Waxhaw, Gunnison, and Francis. Near Perthshire, it intersects with Mississippi Highway 32 (MS-32). North of Deeson, MS-1 intersects with Mississippi Highway 444 (MS-444) close to Round Lake. Further north, it intersects with MS-322 near Sherard.
It’s noteworthy that this section of MS-1 is designated as part of the Great River Road, a scenic route that follows the Mississippi River for much of its length.
