Arkansas Highway 286 from Saltillo to Conway begins at the intersection with Clinton Road in Saltillo, which is also the eastern terminus of AR-286. Travelling generally northwest, the highway passes through primarily wooded areas as it snakes its way through the Palarm Creek watershed. At German Rd, the highway enters Conway and turns west as Dave Ward Drive where it continues for approximately 2 miles to traverse a dog-bone round-about before ending the Saltillo to Conway segment at the interchange with Interstate 40.
