[Revisited] Arkansas Highway 154: Oppelo to Petit Jean State Park

🚙 Drive America’s Highways for 12 miles west along Arkansas Highway 154 from Oppelo to Petit Jean State Park.

The segment of Arkansas Highway 154 from Oppelo to Petit Jean State Park begins at the intersection with Arkansas Highway 9 in the town of Oppelo. Heading due west, the highway soon leaves town before curving northbound towards the east face of Petit Jean Mountain. Continuing around to the northeast corner of the mountain, the highway turns sharply south to begin the climb to the summit. About half way up, the highway turns west to complete the ascent, passing the entrance to Petit Jean’s gravesite and CR-5 at the summit.

Traveling west, Arkansas 154 soon enters Petit Jean State Park where it turns southwest to follow the south ridge of Cedar Creek Canyon. Passing the Cedar Falls Overlook entrance, the route continues southwest to the entrance to Mather Lodge — the heart of Petit Jean State Park, where the segment of Arkansas Highway 154 from Oppelo to Petit Jean State Park ends.
