🧭 Dayton and the Roads of Southwest Ohio

What began as a family trip to Dayton, Ohio became one of our most productive—and unpredictable—road trips of the year. Over several days, we explored the highways and streets of the Miami Valley, followed historic corridors through Dayton and its surrounding communities, and made a sweeping loop from Dayton south to Cincinnati, northeast to Columbus, and west again across Ohio. Along the way we filmed everything from modern interstates and suburban highways to old Dixie Highway alignments, neighborhood streets, aviation landmarks, and the everyday roads that tell the story of the region. And when the Dayton portion of the trip was finished, we pointed the cameras toward Chicago—where a simple side trip quickly turned into an adventure involving two cars, a mechanical failure, an unexpected return journey, Route 66, and considerably more excitement than anyone had planned.
