Missouri State Highways
The Missouri state highway system includes all state-maintained roads in Missouri, except for interstates and U.S. numbered highways. The system consists of over 32,000 miles of roads, which are maintained by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT).
The state highways are numbered with odd numbers for north-south routes and even numbers for east-west routes. The system also includes a few lettered routes, which are supplemental routes that connect to the main state highways. The state highways play an important role in the transportation system in Missouri. They provide access to rural areas, small towns, and cities. They also connect Missouri to other states, and they are used by businesses, travelers, and commuters.
