Drive America’s Highways for 12 miles along Interstate 57 from exit 12 to mile 00 in Missouri
Interstate 57
Interstate 57 is a north–south Interstate Highway spanning from Arkansas to Illinois, paralleling the old Illinois Central Railroad for much of its original route. It will eventually run from North Little Rock, Arkansas to Chicago, Illinois. The original segment ran from Sikeston, Missouri, at I-55 to Chicago, Illinois, at I-94. As of 2022, I-57 has no spur routes nor are any planned for the near future. At a length of just over 386 miles, it is the second-longest two-digit Interstate Highway without an auxiliary route, behind I-49.
In 2024, the first expansion to Interstate 57 was approved by the AASHTO from North Little Rock to Walnut Rudge, Arkansas. At the time of this writing, ground is being broken on the segment around Corning Arkansas, with the segment from Walnut Ridge to Corning being built soon after. On the Missouri side, work continues along US-67 and US-60 to upgrade those highways to I-57.
