Drive America’s Highways for 43 miles south along Interstate 49 from Fayetteville to Alma in Arkansas
We start the video entering I-49 at AR-16/US-62 in Fayetteville. Soon after, we reach the interchange with the old Fullbright Expy (US-71) where we continue south.
Crossing the Boston Mountains, we pass Devils Den State Park and under the Bobby Hopper Tunnel before reaching Mountainburg and Alma, where we end the video at this segment of Interstate 49’s southern terminus*.
*Interstate 49 is a work in progress in Arkansas. There is a segment in the southwest corner of the state by Texarkana that has it’s own mileage system. There is also a small segment near Ft. Chaffee and Fort Smith that continues the southwest segments mileage. The portion of I-49 in this video is on the northwest corner of the state and was once Interstate 540 and has different mileage than the southwest segment. Because of this, we are labeling the southern terminus as Interstate 40 in Alma.
