Historic Route 66 – Thoreau to The Continental Divide – New Mexico

Drive America’s Highways for 5 miles west along Historic Route 66 from Thoreau to The Continental Divide in New Mexico

This portion of The Mother Road is officially New Mexico Highway 122.

The Continental Divide is a point in North America where rainfall east of that point flows to the Atlantic, via the Mississippi River (or directly), and rain that falls west of the divide flows into the Pacific Ocean. At the point we cross the divide, our altitude is 7245 feet above sea level.
