So missing the DFW area. That is such a beautiful drive.
I imagine you do. I like DFW area over Tulsa anyday…but Tulsa at least has charm…Dallas, does not.
Interstate 411 it depends on the area. There are some amazing places in Dallas. Of course, the area we live in now is pretty awesome.
This cover photo above looks like the High Five. Beth and I made it a part of our road trip in 2004.
Correct. I’ve been over all directions, and yeah, like some people say, the highest deck can be intimidating for those not used to it. Still, a fun interchange 🙂
Have you been back that way since? You probably wouldn’t recognize it with all the development that’s been going on down there.
We were through there about 4:30 a.m. one morning and made a special effort to stop to get some photos. I think it was 2004.
This was when we still took turns sleeping and driving. Having gained some road trip wisdom we don’t do those crazy 16 non-stop legs anymore.
Amen. 8-9h max, unless you are out west where there isn;t much to see for 10-12h 🙂
No, we only skirted Big D on our last trip through to WACO and San Antonio.
Keith Todd two places I really want to check out — and Austin.
Big D is neat…once or twice…I recommend going back and checking the area out when you can 🙂
Portions of the DNT between I-35E and 635 almost remind me of the parkways in the New York City area with all the trees (albeit without the low bridges of the NY parkways). I haven't been to Dallas in quite some time (even though I'm in DFW), though I wouldn't be surprised to see fewer trees between Walnut Hill and Royal now due to the tornado that happened back in October.
DNT is awesome. They replaced all the street lights on it too.
