The segment of Tennessee Secondary Route 89 from Trimble to Kenton begins at the southern terminus of TN-89 at a junction with TN-105 in Newbern at around the 1:30 mark. Driving generally east, the highway leaves town and travels through west-Tennessee farmland as it makes it’s way towards Kenton. Along the way, the highway passes through the town of Mason Hall.

Entering Kenton from the west, the segment of TN-89 from Trimble to Kenton ends at the intersection with U.S. Route 45W.
