The segment of Tennessee Route 54 from Dresden to Paris begins at the intersection with Pikeview St in downtown Dresden. Travelling east through downtown, the highway intersects Tennessee Secondary Route 118 before leaving town and splitting off from Tennessee Secondary Route 89 on the east side of town. Continuing east, the highway passes through West Union before intersecting TN-190 west of Como where the road bends slightly southeast.
In Como, Route 54 intersects Tennessee Secondary Route 140 as it continues southeast to Midway where it turns northeast once again towards Paris. West of Paris, TN-54 intersects the Paris Bypass (TN-218) before entering town as Wood Street. In Paris, the highway intersects Tennessee Route 69 before intersecting U.S. Route 641 where the segment of Tennessee Route 54 from Dresden to Paris terminates.
